Using the Law of Attraction - It's O.K. to Want
By Anita Stoudmire

When using the Law of Attraction to have all that you desire, it is ultimately important that you give yourself permission to want! Many folks don’t allow themselves to really want what they want. Whether they have guilt over their desires, or a general feeling of not being worthy to receive it, they cut off their ability to manifest because they don’t allow themselves to want what they want and believe that they will receive it! Desire is absolutely necessary to having the life you want. It was given to you by God and it is your birthright! From the time you were born, you have desired things, people and circumstances. When you were young, you had no issues with guilt or lack of self-worth; you wanted things and you wanted them NOW! What has happened to you that you now cut yourself off from your true nature to want? Is it a sense of disappointment that you have when you desire something and you do not receive it? Has someone instilled in you the belief that it is not “spiritual” or “holy” to desire? Or maybe you have been taught that you are not worthy of all that you desire, because why would something that good happen to someone like you?!

Let’s get back to basics and find out about our ability to desire. I believe that desire is the birthplace of all invention. It is necessary to want something different than what we have in order to create what we do want. In years past, someone thought that it would be very convenient to travel across country faster than by horseback or on foot and so the railroad was invented. Then someone decided that the train was too slow, and the airplane was invented! Many wonderful things have been created because there was a desire to make things better. Really hear this: TO MAKE THINGS BETTER! Desire is the key to all of those kids who are born into poverty and decide that there is a way to live that does not include drugs on every corner or young men dying before their 21st birthday. Their desire for something better brings about a vision, then an ambition, then a drive for a purpose greater that themselves that could change the course of their family’s life. They excel in sports, or science, or go to law school, or become a doctor, or a musician and they achieve their dreams to bring their family out of poverty. This is desire at its absolute best! This is the reason why we have desire, to make things better!

We must also be aware that there is a fine line between good, necessary desire as a gateway to living better, and the desire for things and people and circumstances that does not serve us or the greater good. For example, if you are a single woman who has longed for a mate in your life and you feel that you are getting older and yet Mr. Right has not arrived, it would not be healthy to then begin to desire a relationship with your friend’s husband, whom you see as a potential partner for you! This is an example of desire that does not serve the greater good or you! The Bible calls this “coveting”, or wanting something that belongs to another! Law of Attraction teaches us that this is totally unnecessary to do as there is enough out there for everyone!

It is not necessary to want what your neighbor has, because there is an UNLIMITED supply for all. People often act this way out of fear or good old fashioned greed. These qualities dot not serve you and they will not produce good results! Allow yourself to want; just like when you were a child. Let your wants and desires run wild! This is what I call dreaming big! See yourself as having all that you desire and this will plant the seed inside of you to act on this wanting! Action is absolutely necessary to having all that you desire. Belief is another essential ingredient. But for now, let the ability to desire be the foundation to having all that you yearn for and you will begin to see the manifestation of it in your life!
